In 2025, The Cyber Foundation surveyed family office leaders across the United States in our inaugural survey. What we found revealed opportunities for the community to think differently about their approach to cybersecurity. Read the full report here.

65% report high confidence in understanding their cybersecurity risks. But only 16% describe their internal communication about those risks as very effective - and 35% claim they've had no known incidents, yet can't define what an incident actually is.

67% have one or fewer internal IT or cybersecurity staff. 48% let external vendors define their entire security strategy. And 77% spend less than 0.05% of AUM on security - 10 to 20 times below what's recommended.

Confidence without foundation. Outsourcing without ownership. Investment without the ability to evaluate outcomes.

This is the gap TCF was founded to close.

The Cyber Foundation was created by family office executives and cybersecurity leaders who see this problem from both sides - and are creating something that doesn't yet exist: an independent nonprofit dedicated specifically to the structure, culture, and risk profile of the family office. Not a vendor. Not a generic enterprise framework. An organization built to help this community move from reactive to ready.
